Yes, when it's the right construction. Because our homes sit on concrete slabs, engineered hardwood is almost always the recommended option rather than solid wood, and it performs very well in our dry climate. A free estimate will confirm what your subfloor supports.
Some seasonal gapping is normal with any wood floor in a low-humidity climate, but quality engineered construction and proper acclimation before install keep it minimal. Running a light humidifier in peak summer helps too.
Engineered hardwood has a real wood wear layer bonded over a stable core, making it suited to slab foundations, while solid hardwood is one piece of wood through and through and needs a raised subfloor - see our real & solid hardwood flooring page for details.
