Why engineered, not solid, over Las Vegas slabs

Almost every home in the valley is built on a concrete slab, and solid hardwood simply isn't made to sit directly on concrete - moisture and temperature swings will cup or gap it over time. Engineered hardwood uses a plywood core that stays dimensionally stable, so it can be installed directly over the slab with the right underlayment and still hold flat for decades.

It also handles our dry climate better. Las Vegas humidity can sit in the single digits for months at a stretch, and engineered construction resists the shrinking and gapping that solid wood is prone to when the air this dry.

Why engineered, not solid, over Las Vegas slabs

Refinishing and recoating existing hardwood

If you already have hardwood in a Summerlin or Southern Highlands home and it's showing UV fading near west-facing windows or scuffs from years of foot traffic, we can sand and refinish it rather than replace it outright. We'll match stain and sheen to what's there or open up the chance to go a shade lighter, which tends to hide dust between cleanings better than dark stains do out here.

How our installation works

After your estimate, we schedule delivery so the flooring can acclimate to your home's indoor air for a few days before install, which matters even for engineered product in our climate. Our crew removes old flooring and baseboards as needed, preps the slab, and lays the new floor tight with properly staggered seams and clean transitions at doorways and stairs.

How our installation works

What hardwood costs installed in Las Vegas

Engineered hardwood typically runs $8 to $14 per square foot installed in the Las Vegas area, depending on the species, plank width, and finish you choose, plus any tear-out of existing flooring. Your free estimate includes an itemized, written quote so you know the exact number before any work begins - and if a whole-house project is more than you want to pay up front, financing through Synchrony is available.

Our process from estimate to final walkthrough

We start with a free in-home visit to measure your rooms and check the subfloor, followed by a written quote before we leave. Once you approve it, we order material, schedule acclimation time, then send the same crew back to remove old flooring, prep the slab, and install.

We finish with a walkthrough where we check every transition, stair nose, and baseboard with you before calling the job done - the kind of detail our reviews keep pointing back to.

Why Las Vegas homeowners choose us

We're a local storefront on Rancho Drive, not a lead-gen site that farms your info out to subcontractors - the crew that measures your home is the one that installs it. If hardwood isn't the right fit for a bathroom or pool-adjacent room, we'll tell you and point you toward tile or luxury vinyl plank instead, because a floor that fails in two years isn't a deal.

Hardwood flooring questions in Las Vegas, NV

It's not something we recommend. Solid hardwood needs a wood subfloor and controlled humidity to perform well, and most Las Vegas homes have neither. Engineered hardwood gives you the same look with a construction built for slab installation and our dry climate.

Some fading over years of direct sun is normal for any wood floor, and it's more noticeable in west and south-facing rooms common in valley homes. Window film or shades slow it down, and if it does happen, a refinish can even out the color.

Avoid wet-mopping with tap water since mineral deposits can leave residue on the finish; a damp microfiber mop with a wood-safe cleaner works better. Sweeping regularly also helps since our fine desert dust is more abrasive than typical household dirt.

Yes, we offer 6 to 12 month financing through Synchrony for qualified buyers, which can make a full-home hardwood project easier to budget for. Details and terms are on our financing page.
